Spreading Barley – Warehouse – Stenciling Casks – Warehouse Tasting
On Thursday, our last working day at Springbank Whisky School, we startet in the maltings. All six students where sweating again. The moist barley had to be spread over the malting floor. After the steeping the barley has a moisture content of 46%-48%.
Anna, Cara, Bert, Bozzy, Frank, Freddy, Kohei and Jens – all where working very hard and the four tons of barley where spread very quickly over the floor.
After lunch we started on a whisky distillery tour with Frank McHardy through Campbeltown. Frank showed us the remaining ruins of Campbeltown distilleries and of course we visited the still producing ones.
We started with a walk to Glen Scotia distillery.
